As part of our commitment to the ongoing evolution of Canberra Centre, works will soon commence to upgrade Scotts Crossing.
This upgrade will include the construction of a new ramp to the underground car park – providing enhanced access and increasing the convenience and accessibility of Canberra Centre.
The completion of these works will be delivered in a two-stage process for the purposes of mitigating any impact on our community.
Works on the first stage are scheduled to commence on Tuesday 15 June and while it is still too early to confirm final timings, we expect to finish the first stage of the works by the end of the year, while stage 2 of the works is scheduled for completion by mid-2022.
In order to facilitate the upgrade works, the current entrance to and exit from the outdoor car park will be relocated from Scotts Crossing to Narellan Street. To allow for this relocation the outdoor car park near the ATO building will be temporarily impacted this month during the following times:
• 15 June – Line marking, and construction works to commence in preparation for the relocation
• 19 & 20 June – car park closed to allow for line marking
• 27 June – car park closed to allow for the relocation of entrances
• 28 June – car park reopens with new entries and exits from Narellan Street.
Once these entries and exits are relocated, Scotts Crossing itself will close to facilitate the rest of these upgrade works. Scotts Crossing will close on 28 June 2021 for all vehicles.
As part of our responsible management protocols, we have determined a project management plan in collaboration with our construction company that is designed to mitigate the impact of these works on our community. Mitigation measures, including
• Hoardings to contain the works, limiting dust and noise
• Wayfinding signage to direct customers to other car parks
• Employment of traffic management specialists to be based on-site
• Containment of work to outside peak trade area times
• Regular communication with our customers.
We are pleased to confirm that we have commenced site establishment works in the lower ground car park underneath Coles, in preparation for a series of planned upgrade works at Canberra Centre.
As a result of these works, a number of car parks in the lower ground basement level 1 car park will be removed. Alternative parking can be found at the other Canberra Centre car parks including Target, Aldi and Big W.
These works have begun on Wednesday 21st April. At this stage, it is still too early to share any further details, but we look forward to making some exciting announcements in the near future.
Canberra Centre will remain open as usual throughout these works, and we will be working to minimise any disruption for our community as part of our comprehensive project management plan.
We thank our community for their patience and cooperation during these works, and we look forward to sharing further updates with you as we reach key milestones.
